The Hotel Storchen in the old town of Zurich is a tradition-steeped hotel with stylishly furnished rooms and suites. At the beginning of 2017, the hotel was generously redesigned and modernised. The complete renovation, which takes into account the historical roots of the listed building, earned the traditional hotel its 5th star. All the renovated rooms as well as the public toilets have been equipped with washplace solutions from Alape. Interior designer Ina Rinderknecht deployed a great deal of sensitivity in the implementation of a concept which took its orientation from the lyrical interpretation of the stork and the historical construction period.
Undermount basins were installed in the bathrooms of the Zurich boutique hotel. With this type of installation, the basins are bonded under the support plate, creating an invisible joint. This results in a precise connection between the two elements – without the need for additional silicone. The comparatively low weight of the glazed steel is thereby a large benefit. Optically, the basins integrate themselves strongly into the design of the washplaces and subordinate themselves. Undermount basins are glazed on both the inside and the outside and do not require a tap hole. Ina Rinderknecht is convinced by the quality of the Alape products: “Washplace solutions from Alape are timeless, robust and elegant. The extensive range of products offers diverse solutions for high-quality and aesthetic bathroom design. Due to installing in an existing building, the spatial circumstances were sometimes extremely limited. In view of the large available selection of basins, a suitable solution could be found for every room situation”.
